Our History
Melcom Ltd. began operating in 1989. In 1991, the first store opened in Accra’s Central Business District under the leadership of Mr. Bhagwan Khubchandani, Mr. Mahesh Melwani and Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani.

Melcom Ltd. began operating in 1989. In 1991, the first store opened in Accra’s Central Business District under the leadership of Mr. Bhagwan Khubchandani, Mr. Mahesh Melwani and Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani.
Crownstar Electronics Ltd. was established as the business expanded. Expansion in 1997 paved the way for Century Industries Ltd., established in 2000. Melcom later grew beyond Accra to more than 70 stores.

The Melcom Group of Companies comprises Melcom Ltd., Century Industries Ltd., Melcom Travel and Tours Ltd., and Melcom Care Foundation. Melcom Ltd., the Group’s first company, is described as Ghana’s premier retail chain.
The Group reports more than 70 retail outlets and 12 cash ’n’ carry depots across Ghana, alongside a growing e-commerce business. It has also expanded into electronics assembly and servicing, plastics manufacturing, Quick Service Restaurants (QSR), and property development. Retail remains its primary business, supported by semi-wholesale and wholesale operations.
